With AEB's "Carrier Connect" product, shippers can digitally integrate transport service providers (freight forwarders or parcel services) such as UPS, DHL, DB Schenker or Dachser into their logistics processes. Carrier Connect offers APIs for integration into ERP systems, web shops or warehouse management systems and is provided as a service from the AEB Cloud. The system provides users with an interface (API) to over 200 transport service providers as of August 2022.

Many Transport service providers offer an extensive range of services (express, delivery at specific times, document services, etc.) and additional services (Saturday delivery, cash on delivery, delivery by hoist, etc.). These services and additional services are implemented in Carrier Connect and various conditions such as weight limits of packages, combinatorics of services and additional services or permitted areas must be considered.

A transportation service provider connection usually delivers the following output:

Label - Is applied to the package or pallet and is used for identification
EDI - Contains the transport-relevant data for the packages/pallets that are sent
Manifest / Loading list - Is a document with a summary of all packages/pallets that a driver collects from the shipper

What You Offer

As a Software Developer for Carrier Connect, you have the following background and skills;

Technical Skills

At least 3 years of programming experience in Java.
- A technical test would be part of the interview process
Oracle or MS SQL database experience and having worked with Git/Bitbucket, Jira and Jenkins would be helpful
Passionate in programming and writing good code
Proven Experience in dealing with SOAP and REST web services
Strong documentation and knowledge management skills

Education / Work Experience

Experience in medium-sized and large IT projects is a plus
Logistics background is not required, but gives your application an edge
Successful completion of your studies in computer science, software engineering, or a comparable education

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain transport partners for AEB Carrier Connect and analyze carrier specific specification.

In detail, this includes;

Regular coordination and participation with AEB’s international development and product teams
Build a local technical knowledge base and expertise of AEB Carrier Connect
Technical analysis of transport service providers Specifications for technical connection in AEB Software
- Communication and coordination with contact persons at the transport service providers
- Preparation of design paper/concept based on the transport service providers specification in terms of implementation in Carrier Connect.

Implementation of the transport service provider connection in Carrier Connect
- Configuration using the existing configuration framework in Carrier Connect
- Extensions by programming (Java) for requirements that cannot be set via the configuration framework
- Creating label templates with NiceLabel Designer software
- Creation of list documents (e.g. manifest documents) with Adobe Lifecycle Designer (PDF/XFA)

Test and approval of the implementation with transport service providers
Documentation of the implementation
